El Dorado Gymnastics Instructor Accused of Child Molestation

Keith Willette, a 54 year-old gymnastics instructor and professional photographer from Cameron Park, was arrested this past Thursday on suspicion of child molestation. According to the El Dorado Country Sherriff’s Office, Willette had been under investigation for a week prior to his arrest. His alleged victim came forward and informed authorities of the years of sexual abuse she suffered as a child at the hands of Willette, her gymnastics instructor.

The reported victim was a student of Willette’s, and claims she was sexually abused repeatedly, between 1999 and 2004. Detectives believe there is a strong possibility there are more victims, not only throughout El Dorado and Sacramento counties, but in the other states where he worked with children. Authorities have indicated that Willette served as a gymnastics instructor in Minnesota, Ohio, and Washington state.

Keith Willette is currently facing felony sexual assault charges and remains behind bars in El Dorado County Jail, where he is held on $100,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities encourage victims, or anyone with pertinent information, to come forward.
