The Shasta County District Attorney's office filed a new set of 12 charges against a Redding man already facing over 120 allegations related to the sexual assault of children. Peter Mock, a former Cal-Fire captain, was originally arrested in 2022 for over 70 counts and saw several more cases brought forward against him for other alleged victims in 2023 and 2025.
These newest charges bring the total count to 134 charges laid against him across four separate cases. These most recent charges are focused on alleged assaults Mock committed on two minors under 14 from 2006 to 2011. Including two counts of sodomy by force, one count of oral copulation, one count of sexual assault on a child, and eight counts of lewd and lascivious acts.
This is the fourth time prosecutors have brought forward new charges against Mock after his initial arrest. These new cases are a major part of why none of the four cases against him have seen trial yet, as the new cases lead to new evidence needing to be evaluated.
This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information regarding this case or additional victims is encouraged to contact the Shasta County Major Crimes Unit at 530-245-6135.
