Substitute Teacher Arrested for Unlawful Sex with Minor Student from Yucaipa High School

26-year-old Trevor Jack Trathen has been booked into jail for oral copulation with a minor who is only 14 years of age, as well as penetration with a foreign object on a minor 14 years of age. A Yucaipa High School substitute teacher, Trathen has since been removed from the Yucaipa and Calimesa School District Substitute system. The alleged incidents occurred between February and March of 2014 during his time as a coach at the high school.
The alleged victim, a student at the school, came forward and notified the school of the inappropriate conduct. Consequently, Yucaipa High School contacted the Yucaipa Sheriff’s Station and the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services agency. Following multiple interviews as well as a thorough investigation in search of evidence, Trathen was arrested on September 2nd and is now being held on $200,000 bail.

Another former Yucaipa High School teacher, Sheila Heacock, was sentenced in 2015 to five years probation with 270 days county jail time at San Bernardino Superior Court as a result of being convicted of having sexual intercourse with a 16 year-old student.
