A lawsuit has been filed against Sacramento City Unified School District, by a teenage boy and his mother. The suit stems from the recent arrest and conviction of Preston Howard Lewis, who was sentenced in October to 18 years in state prison after pleading no contest to three felonies and a misdemeanor for molesting a 7-year-old boy, sending sexual text messages to a 14-year-old student and possessing child pornography.
Until his arrest, Lewis was a special education teacher at Sam Brannan Middle School. In his position as a teacher, he was given unfettered access to children and was able to groom his victims for future abuse. The plaintiff – who is referred to in court filings as Marcus Doe – claims that the School District knew of Lewis’ propensity to molest children, and did nothing to prevent it.
