Lawsuit Against Lodi Unified Ends With $4.75 Million Settlement

Following nearly four weeks of trial, a settlement has been reached between Lodi Unified School District and the eight year old plaintiff who had been sexually molested by her school bus driver. The announcement of a settlement comes after the jury had unanimously found that the school district was 90% responsible for plaintiff’s abuse. The jury had yet to decide exactly how much Lodi Unified would pay.

The amount of the settlement, $4.75 million, is $550,000 more than the parties had initially agreed to settle the case for prior to the start of trial. That initial settlement, however, was abandoned after the School Board rejected the sum as too high.
