Allegations of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church are often not made public and are instead secretly settled. However, as more cases have developed showing a pattern of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church, victim’s advocates have gained support in suggesting that Cardinal Mahony’s astounding poor choices and failure to protect Catholic children is deserving of repercussions as Mahony’s actions created an environment that allowed for Father Baker’s abuse to continue.
