Brentwood School Teacher Arrested & Accused of Unlawful Sex with a Minor

Dr. Aimee Palmitessa, a 45-year-old biology teacher at an elite Brentwood private school, has been accused of unlawful sex with an underage student. She was arrested on suspicion of statutory rape on Friday, August 18th. Allegedly, Palmitessa engaged in sex involving a 16-year-old student of one of Los Angeles’ most expensive schools. Palmitessa earned a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology, and previously taught at Penn State Abington. She has been placed on immediate administrative leave, and school officials put out a statement expressing their shock and distress regarding the matter.
Southern California school districts have repeatedly failed to stop teachers from engaging in inappropriate relationships with students and often try to cover up the abuse. In fact, our firm, Manly, Stewart & Finaldi recently fought on behalf of victims who suffered at the hands of a Miramonte Elementary School teacher who was sexually abusing students in his classroom. This case resulted in the Los Angeles Unified School District paying a total of $170 million to victims.
Administrators of Brentwood School, as well as Palmitessa, could not be reached for comment on the pending case.
