As Second Accuser Files Suit, Kevin Clash, Voice of Elmo, Resigns from Sesame Street

Kevin Clash, famous for bringing life to the Sesame Street puppet, Elmo, has resigned from Sesame Street amid new allegations that he engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor. Mr. Clash had previously faced similar allegations in recent weeks, but those were later recanted by the alleged victim.

The newest allegations have been levied by Cecil Singleton, who says that the two met in 1993 when Singleton was merely 15 years old. Singleton says that Mr. Clash, then 32, befriended him and the two began a relationship. In a press conference with his attorneys, however, Mr. Singleton says that the two did not engage in sexual intercourse until years later when Singleton was an adult, but that, while he was a minor, the two engaged in “dry humping,” groping, masturbation and intense kissing.

A lawsuit was filed on behalf of Cecil Singleton on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
