Another Los Angeles Unified School District Teacher Arrested Amid Sexual Abuse Allegations

Robert Pimental, a recently retired Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) teacher who currently resides in Newport Beach, California, has been arrested and charged by prosecutors with eight counts of continuous sexual abuse and seven counts of lewd acts on a child. Pimental, who is 57 years old, is suspected of having molested at least 20 children and one adult.

Mr. Pimental had been a teacher within the LAUSD from 1974 to March, 2012, when he retired after authorities began to investigate the allegations of abuse levied against him. Pimental was teaching fourth grade at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary School in Wilmington when he resigned.

There are now widespread concerns that there may be more victims outside of the school setting. In addition to his position as a teacher, Mr. Pimental was also a youth soccer coach and volunteer for the American Youth Soccer Organization in Orange County. Victim’s attorney, John Manly, has called for the AYSO to reach out to the parents of children that Mr. Pimental had been in contact with.
