EXCLUSIVE: Carlsbad's Army and Navy Academy fighting hazing, tryst lawsuits

A former cadet at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad has sued the school, claiming he was brutalized by other students seven years ago in a hazing incident that included sodomy with a broom handle ---- one in a series of allegations facing the seaside boarding school.

That lawsuit is one of two pending against the academy claiming that administrators at the campus failed to adequately oversee cadets and prevent inappropriate behavior.

Statement by John Manly: Cardinal Mahony Defends the Pope and Sex Abuse Cover-up

Incredibly, Cardinal Mahony of the Los Angeles Archdiocese issued a statement today lauding Pope Benedict for his work in allegedly protecting victims from sexually abusive priests.

It’s incredible that the Cardinal who presided over the largest known number of pedophile priests in the United States would be qualified to issue statements regarding proper behavior in preventing child molestation.

The only thing that can be fairly said about the Pope and Cardinal Mahony is they both knowingly allowed child molesters access to children. Catholics have a right to expect better from their Bishop and their Pope.
